September sits in a structural gap: summer beach crowds have gone home, school is back, and the foliage wave hasn't started. Yet the weather is arguably the year's best — typhoon season fading, humidity broken, sea at its warmest, skies clear. The one date to check is Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) — a moving holiday week when intercity trains sell out; avoid it and the month is wide open.
